1. If I knew absolutely nothing about Dean McGinnes,
how would you describe your music to me?
-- To best describe my music would be melodic, experimental,
ambient rock. All instrumentals as I cant sing !! I let the guitar do the
talking !
2. If I were to buy your new album The Journey
of Life,
what songs should I pay particular attention to and why?
-- Pay attention to all the song ! Haha ! Each
song on the album has a meaning and hopefully the listener can connect
with how I was feeling at the time I wrote the song. Everybody does
have their favourite songs off the album, some have been, "Going
Nowhere", "2ism", "Hypnotized", "The
Journey Of Life (Part 2)" But I'm hopeful people enjoy the album
from start to finish.
3. Where do you hail from, and when did you decide music was for
you?
--
I come from Scotland, UK Living in a small town called Monifieth. My Dad
has always been into his music, so I got brought up listening to the likes
of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. I loved the guitar playing.
It wasn't till I was about 17 that I decided to buy a guitar. I have never
looked back since.
4.
What was your worst on stage experience? What was your
best?
-- Worst: I just finished setting up my equipment,
amp, leads, effects etc. We were running late, so I never had time to
actually
plug in and play to make sure everything was working fine. So we are
about to start and kick into our first song, 1 ! 2 ! 3 ! 4 !..... nothing
!!! I got nothing coming from my amp, no signal at all. I felt so embarrassed
as we were running late as it was and this happens. It took about 15
mins to find out what the problem was, I had the input lead in the output
socket and the output lead in the input socket !! haha
Best: The best has
to be when I was in a covers band and we supported the Scottish rock
band NAZARATH. It was awesome playing in front of about 1000 people
at this rock festival. It was scary as well playing in front of that much
people, but after a couple of numbers I was fine. I ended up going
into
the crowd as I had a wireless system and that was so much fun, interacting
with the crowd.
5. Do you think that the Internet (whether it be Internet
radio, legal downloading, MySpace, streaming audio, etc.) is a good tool
for musicians or is it a bad thing because it hinders profits?
-- I think it is a very good tool. Artist like myself,
that are not signed and are releasing a CD will find it hard to get there
music out to other countries. Unless they go on a world tour or get signed.
But the Internet helps you get your music out to so much more countries
via websites like Myspace and Internet radio stations. Gets the thumbs
up from me!!!
