The Good
The opening beats of "Bullets Without a Gun" will have you feeling
the long-forgotten grooves of the eighties. Don't get it confused with the
bubble-gum new
wave of the decade of decadence, The Anix is coming from a darker place.
Haunting, faded, and echoes vocals lead you through "Even If It Kills
Me."
The chorus is pure melodic indulgence Ominous drum patterns and dark tones
give you an inkling as to just why "She Lives in the Dark" before
vocalist Brandon Smith does. "Half the World Away" has cinematic
and emotionally tortured feel to it. "This Game" has a groove
and hook that is almost hypnotic.
"The Lowdown of a Fool" is a drummers wet dream with it's pounding
beats.
The Bad
Nothing notable
The Verdict
Dark tones and a tortured soul make for some great music on Demolition City.
The album's new-wave retro tone is quite refreshing in a world of music
that is slowly going stale.
