Creating a Monster

Self-Released 2007

What’s the 4-1-1?
Baltimore based group release their debut to the masses.

Genre
Hard rock / metal / industrial

The Good
“Welcome Change” is elevated by rapid-fire drums, powerful vocals, and heavy riffs. Industrial rhythms mixed with throaty and earth-shaking vocals take control of “Escape the Machine.” “Sins” begins with haunting tones as well as vocals. The song is driven by an infectious riff and vocal hook. Pounding drums and gut busting wails inject “Gone Wrong” with energy and intensity. The lead guitar riff on “To Have You” has a Middle-Eastern influence to it, although the rest of the track is pure hard rock indulgence. “Without a Soul” starts off slow and subdued, but builds to an in-your-face climax.

The Bad
Nothing notable

The Verdict
Creating a Monster is a powerful modern rock album full of muscle and energy, with slight references to the 90s industrial sound.

Did You Know?
Shift just signed a major distribution deal with Nightmare Records.

Rating: out of 5
