What’s the 4-1-1?
Dominici release their second album in the three part trilogy.

Genre
Progressive metal

The Good
Opening with "The Monster", which is an 8 minute instrumental track was a brilliant choice. The ominous intro before the music starts is a great way to capture the listener’s attention and bring them in. After this track it takes you directly into the storm that is "Nowhere to Hide". The atmosphere on this song adds a great effect to what is already an amazing song. Keyboards in the back add a special touch as well and will keep the listener interested in the song rather than get bored and skip to the next. Musical work on this track is beyond what I expected.

"Greed, the Evil Seed" tackles down some good guitar riffs throughout the entire song. Again, the music here is brutal, but awesome. There is a solo in this song which I can only describe as epic. "School of Pain" explores a change from the previous songs, but is good none the less. "The Calling" brings forth good movement. The keyboards in "Captured" are one of the best on the album.

The Bad
Nothing notable

The Verdict
I did not know what to expect at first, though just from the picture on the cover I could tell this would be some kind of epic metal album and I was right. Everything on this album is precise. The music is by far some of the best I have ever heard, and the fact that this is a concept album makes it even better since it tells a story. The singing is easily tolerable and is a change from the normal screaming stuff I usually listen to. Even though the year has just begun I would easily say this can rank in the top 10 of the year. Maybe number 10 in my book since there are many good releases to see the light of day, but in that area for sure!

Did You Know?
Charlie Dominici had some time in Dream Theater, with whom he recorded their debut album.

Rating: out of 5
